We need Jesus every single day of our lives. We must daily acknowledge that we need Jesus and that our identity is found in him. Some days we allow him to lead and others we think we take the lead.

We realize that in order to continuously put God first and choose Jesus everyday, we need four things:

• undivided time with God daily

• time in God’s word daily

• time in prayer where we converse with God both listening and speaking with him daily

• regular time with other believers in community where you can experience the fullness of God

When we commit to these spiritual disciplines, we experience a full life in God in which we are used to glorify him and help others take steps towards him. We are called to be the salt and light to our world (Matthew 5:13-14), no matter your generation. For, before Jesus ascended into heaven, he left us with this charge:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-19

For the follower of Jesus, this means that I commit to learning more about God through daily time with him in his word and in prayer, and I commit to helping others understand and learn more about God through sharing my life and learning about God with others.
